Lutheran Kindergarten Teacher Wanted for 2010 and beyond

  • In September 2010, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, a member of Lutheran Church-Canada -- a church in Altar and Pulpit Fellowship with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) -- located in in the growing community of Moncton, New Brunswick (Canada), intends to open The Concordia Academy of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, a confessionally mission-minded Lutheran school—that is, an unashamedly Lutheran School, yet serving the general public in addition to the few children of our small congregation. The high demand for a quality private school in our community provides us a wonderful opportunity to proclaim the Gospel faithfully in a way that both children and parents can understand, and to provide a high quality of education to many.
  • Good Shepherd seeks to call or hire a rostered (or otherwise qualified and willing to pursue colloquy) LCMS or LCC Lutheran school teacher to plan and start the first Kindergarten class (15-18 children) for September 2010, position to begin as soon as possible. Kindergarten is the first grade in what will eventually be a K-8 school, with additional grades planned to be added each year.
  • A 50 child preschool (Kingswood Academy Daycare) is already operating on site with weekly chapel and other points of contact with the church. It is run independently by members of the congregation but in partnership with the church and school, and it enjoys an excellent reputation in the community.
  • In addition, the teacher, according to his or her ability, would work with, advise, and assist our full time executive director (charged with most administrative responsibilities including budgeting, fundraising, accounting, care of building, after-school and summer programming, etc), our board of governors, and our pastor on matters of school development, Lutheran identity, public relations, and preparations for calling/hiring subsequent teachers.
  • Experience in administration and knowledge of French are definite assets, but not required.
  • We are committed to fair compensation, as "the worker deserves his wages" refers to all workers, not just the pastor. Salary and other compensation is a combination of LCC East and ABC District guidelines (since these are more considerate toward teachers), including full synodical worker benefits (see LCCBenefits.ca -- includes life, health, and dental for worker and dependents, as well as pension), and take into consideration experience, relevant additional education, and additional responsibilities. A District moving allowance is available, and participation in LCC's Lutheran Teachers' Association and continuing education is also encouraged and provided for.
  • A waiting list of students for Concordia Academy (comprised chiefly of children of Kingswood Academy) already exists and we are only waiting for the first teacher to be obtained to open registration.
  • We're looking for both applications and nominations/recommendations to help us find just the right person!
  • Inquiries, applications and nominations may be addressed to Mr Richard Betsch (executive director) or Rev David Milette, c/o Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 25 Hildegard Dr, Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, E1G 2G5; via our website; or by phone at (506) 384-9453.

Come grow with us, as we share our Lutheran treasures and a solid education in a safe and loving environment, where Jesus our Good Shepherd is known and made known among + His little lambs!

Pastor David Milette,
for the GSLC School Steering Committee
