Some of the Bible stories this Fall 2009:

Invocation
  • Seth calls upon the name of the Lord
  • Jesus sends out the apostles to baptize in the name of the Triune God.
  • St. Peter preaches the first Christian sermon, preaching that “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved,” and the people are baptized.
Confession
  • Daniel’s confession of sins is a good pattern for our own confession.
Absolution
  • Jesus calls four disciples to be His messengers, fishing men into the boat of the Church.
  • Jesus forgives the sins of the lame man, revealing that the authority to forgive sins has, in fact, been given to men.
The Introit (or Entrance Psalm)
  • WE enter into God’s presence, but not as they did in Moses’ day – under God’s wrath – but as in Jesus’ day – in God’s mercy.
Kyrie (or "Lord have mercy")
  • Blind Bartimaeus gives a good example of faith, crying for mercy, not giving up, and confessing Jesus to be Lord and Christ.
Gloria in Excelsis
(or "Glory to God in the Highest")
  • We are given a glimpse into the eternal song of the angels, the day that Jesus is born.
  • We are given a glimpse into heavenly worship!
